Healthcare for Convicts; Whether Incarcerated or Released

Ava Schrage's Artist Statement 

I created an NGO to represent my research. I chose this format because it is the most practical way to explain and apply my research. Creating an NGO helped me view my project in a different, more real-world applicable way. In making this, I could see myself potentially creating an NGO in the future, and healthcare for convicts is something I would consider turning into a career. My NGO connects to class topics because we discussed healthcare and the people who should have access to it. In class, we have talked about injustices in different systems or in groups of people, which is evident in the prison population. This project extends beyond the confines of the classroom because I could see myself turning the NGO into a career or potentially trying to develop it further. This is a topic I am passionate about and would love to do more research on and try to help people who are affected by it.
