Perspectives on Abortion 1

Artistic statement: I've always believed in the sanctity of life, but over time, I have tried to respect that faith and the complexities of real-life situations don't always align in simple ways. I grew up religious, so I thought being pro-life was about protecting the lives of unborn children, with little thought for the people whose life-altering decisions were involved. Hypothetical babies over real life people. But as I've moved away from religion and started exploring new perspectives, I've realized that the real issues are deeper. On social media, we often see radical pro-lifers and extreme opinions, but we rarely see the compassion behind those who are trying to preach hate the sin, love the sinner. But where is the love? Talking with my friends about this topic helped me see that understanding others isn't just about clinging to a set of beliefs, but truly grasping the challenges and pain they might be going through. I've learned that it's possible to respect life while also acknowledging the personal struggles that shape people's decisions. These conversations brought me closer to my friends, allowing me to appreciate their views and experiences in a way I hadn't before. It was more than just a "deep" conversation, it was a way for me to see beyond my own beliefs and embrace the complexities of their stories.
