Criminal Justice system in a book

Artist statement:

Hi, my name is Zoe. I am not the best at art, so I decided to create a children's book to educate kids about all the different people within a court system. I used someone named Jerry to help tell about how he learned about the different people that are within the court system. He talked about how he learned about the court system from a TV show and then ended up asking his mom about more of the people that are within the court system. Then that day, he ended up going to school and his teacher started talking about it more too since it was a unit in the class that he was talking during the time.

For my research though, I researched about the criminal justice system and how it works. It was learning about the different ways that our system works. I also learned more about how the jury has so much power over the decision that is made within the court. Another article talked about how it is important to be on a jury once to be able to form your own opinions about the criminal justice system. Lastly, there was an article about how black power is being gained within the criminal justice system. So, overall, it is learning more about how the jury system helps us within the criminal justice system but also within us as people of the country.
